About My Practice

I have been a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania since licensing started, in 1974, and I have been in private practice for thirty-six years, the last six in Malvern, Pennsylvania. I am a Pediatric Psychologist, specializing in work with children and families.

For What Sorts of Problems Do People Seek Help?

Though a large variety of problems are treated, they tend to fall in the following groups:

Stress Related Disorders. These often present as purely physical symptoms, most commonly as headache, gastrointestinal symptoms or physiologic arousal symptoms such as rapidly beating heart or excessive sweating.
Anxiety Disorders – These include a wide variety of problems from specific phobias, such as fears of medical procedures, fears of flying or of being in crowded places, to separation anxiety, and an array of performance anxieties, such as in academics, sports, or music.
Behavioral Problems
4) Chronic Pain Disorders - may include chronic or recurrent headache, low back pain, pain as the result of an auto accident or other injury or illness.
Pervasive Developmental Disorders, such as Asperger’s Syndrome
Other Disorders of childhood and adolescence, such as Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder and childhood depression.

What are the ages of my patients?

Primarily, I see children and adolescents, aged 5 through 18. However, it is not unusual for me to see adults with chronic pain and/or stress related symptoms.

Treatment Approaches

These include family therapy, cognitive-behavior therapy, and physiological self-regulation, such as biofeedback, autogenic training, progressive muscle relaxation training, and self-hypnosis.
